Topcon Date Collector FC-250


When you are on the field, you don’t want to be bogged down by cables, slow processors, or equipment that is complicated to use.  You need agility, efficiency, and dependability. Topcon Positioning Systems understands that.  They designed the FC-250  field controller to provide the functionality surveyors demand and the durability they need for their work on the field. The Topcon FC-250 is a model of the next generation in field control technology, delivering a package designed for optimum capability, convenience, and performance.  
The package
The FC-250 delivers just what you’re looking for in a compact and rugged package.
It  measures just 7.72 in. x 4.21 in. x 2.40 in. and weighs only 1.5 pounds. But there’s nothing lightweight about its performance. It contains a powerful computer based on the latest Windows Mobile®  6.5 operating system with a 806MHz processor and a Marvel PXA320 microprocessor.  The FC-250 can hold  1GB in flash storage; it has built-in Bluetooth® wireless technology and WiFi.
Capability
The integrated Bluetooth® can be used to interface to GPRS enabled cell phones to receive or send data along the way or to transfer everything at once when you are done. The FC-250  interface is completely user friendly. Even novices will quickly learn to navigate the full functionality it offers. As you would expect, the FC-250 function with  all of Topcon’s data collector software applications, such as TopSURV 7 and Pocket3D, as well as other productivity applications.  Its processes are fast enough to handle full color graphics – even video.  It can even work in real time with live images.
Built for the outdoors   
The FC-250’s design shows an understanding of real life conditions for outdoor use with with all the features you need at your fingertips and no cables to trip you up. Its VGA touch sensitive sreen is very easy to use, and the 3.8” full color display won’t make you squint. It is LED backlit and readable even in sunlight.
 Up for a rough trip
It operates at an extreme range of temperatures from -4°F to +122°F, and its environmentally sealed housing keeps it safe. The media card cover is weatherproof, and the ports are covered to keep them protected.  Its environmental rating is IP-66. The rugged casing is strong enough to withstand shock resistance even from a fall of 3 feet onto concrete.
 Convenience on the go
Aside from its durability, the housing is ergonomically designed for comfortable handling. The device’s battery allows it to run for 6-10 hours on the field. Even when there are no outlets handy, you can keep it powered by swapping out the easily removable Li-ion batteries for a backup that is internally recharged.
 Easy data transfers
 Both the Bluetooth and WiFi components are hardwired inside the device, allowing the CF card slot to remain open and available for other CF devices. The slots make it easy to add extra memory cards as needed with no need to dig out specialized tools.  You can use the cards for data transfer and exchange with other devices, or, if you prefer, you can use a USB memory stick that will fit the USB 1.1 Type A slot. You can also opt to use ActiveSync on your PC to
transfer data through the medium of Bluetooth® or a USB cable.
