Leica Disto Scanner 3D

The thing about traditional measurements is that they really work best for flat planes and straight lines. But in reality we live in 3 dimensions that are not always made up of neat 90 degree angles. Some spaces are curved, and some have multiple angles, and some even have points that are beyond the reach of measuring tape. When it comes to these out-of-the-box shapes, the simple approach to measurement becomes far more complicated.

You usually need at least two people just to take the measurements. You also would need to drag a ladder around various key points and try to keep your balance as stretch out as far you can with your tape. Then you’d have to pull out a pencil and paper to jot down the numbers or call over to your helper to have him do it. Hope he gets it down right. Then you can do the same thing while securely crouched down on the floor. Finally, you would retrieve and decipher the figures to enter into calculations to come up with the actual dimensions of the irregular space., which you can sketch out to scale. You may come up with a pretty close approximation, which is all that could be expected from a lineal approach to a nonlinear situation. But being off -- even slightly – can end up costing you a lot of time and money on the job.
Now you don’t have to take a chance on your numbers with complicated calculations based on approximations of painstakingly gathered measurements. The Leica Disto 3D system offers the solution to the problem with an unbeatable combination of convenience and accuracy. Its sensor projects a laser dot at all the key targets around the room, taking in all the measurements, including walls, windows, and ceiling, from a single station point. Not only would you save time, but you save yourself a great deal of frustration in taking the measurements of points that are hard to reach or to assess like arches, curves, and staircases. The 3D Leica Disto Sensor can be placed on any stable surface or tripod to project the laser that takes the measure of the key points.
You control it all with touch screen on a full color hand-held unit that can connect wirelessly – with no cables in your way.

The Leica Disto 3D allows the user the choice of determining the grid manually or importing it from the prepared dXF file. It includes tools that can guide you in adjusting methods according to the surface. You can just select and measure the first point and then the laser will show the position automatically. You can even measure from room to room with the "New station point" option. Need to measure a roof? No problem. The Leica Disto 3D system makes it possible to get the exact dimensions without even leaving the ground. With the 3D Leica Disto, you can travel light without having to drag along anything else. It’s all you need to establish plum and level, as well as measure. It can do all the calculations needed, offer display measurements as drawing on the screen in realtime, and record all the data in formats that import and export as needed. It can even keep a photographic record with its built in camera.

Your accuracy is assured as far as 1 mm within 10 meters. The digital pointfinder with 8x zoom allows precise pointing over longer distances. That makes taking the measure of a room of any shape or dimensions absolutely effortless and eliminates the need for tape, ladders, or scraps of paper. No more scribbled notes with all their potential for misreading or copying incorrectly. All measurements and drawings are recorded by the 3D Leica so that can be imported directly into your software program. That not only saves time on data entry but prevents any error that results from a mistake in transcription.

The Leica Disto 3D system includes the following:

3D Disto
Control Unit
RM100 Remote Control
USB Stick
Self-adhesive target marks
Ruler (for offset points)
Power Supply for 3D Disto and Control Unit
2 USB cables
Power Cable 3D Disto to CU
Data CD
The advances of this innovative system allow professionals like architects, plumbers, roofers, and contractors to save a lot of time and enjoy the peace of mind of that comes with knowing the measurements are accurate. The savings that result from such efficiency could be substantial, but the feeling of confidence is priceless.
