Are You Seeing Double? Bosch’s Laser Distance Meter Keeps Getting Better with the GLM80

Just when you thought you’ve seen them all…the Bosch GLM80 steps in. The Bosch GLM80 Laser Rangefinder is not just your typical handheld measuring device that reads distances and makes calculations. Don’t get me wrong – that’s a big part of this innovative digital tool, considering its 262-foot range and accuracy to ±1/16 inch. But, the Bosch GLM80 digital measurer is all that – and more. It brings new features to the world of digital laser measuring, such as a lithium-ion power source, rotating screen and probably most impressive of all – the ability to transform into a digital level using the included R60 Measuring Rail.

Let’s start with the GLM80’s dual role, then we’ll backtrack to the device itself.

Simply place your GLM80 laser measurer into the slot on the R60 aluminum rail, click into place, and voila – you’ve got yourself a 24-inch electronic level! Now you could measure angles and slopes easily and accurately, so get your cement ready and start laying down that sidewalk.

If that’s not innovative enough, Bosch will blow you away with its introduction of lithium-ion power to the handheld distance laser industry. The GLM80 is the first laser distance meter to be powered by li-ion technology. No more loading and replacing alkaline batteries. This li-ion battery is rechargeable via either the included charger or any micro USB port. Enjoy the extended use this power source offers by taking up to 25,000 measurements before needing to recharge! That’s about 6 months for the average user.

Truly fitting for the modern world we live and work in is Bosch’s introduction of tilt screen technology to the field of portable distance measuring units. Contractors, builders, estimators – you know that the last thing you want to do in middle of taking measurements is to start twisting your neck in different directions to actually read the results in the display screen. Twist no more – this device can automatically sense what direction it is facing and rotates accordingly, so that your values are always displayed upright on the illuminated 4-line LCD display.

Of course, the GLM80 provides you with all the modes necessary for all sorts of measuring tasks. Calculations, indirect measurement, wall area, min/max…you name it. Most notably, though, is the dual-axis 360° tilt sensor that enables accurate angle measurement no matter what direction the unit is pointing! Don’t worry about memorizing the values – this distance meter does that for you with storage memory for 21 results.

Last, but not certainly not least, is the strong construction of the GLR80 + R60 digital measuring set. It has an IP54 rating which means it’s dust and water resistant. It’s protected with rubber-guarding and can even survive a 3-foot drop without being damaged!
