Sokkia LP30A Construction Laser Level Planer

The Stadium that was contracted to my company to be built was going to a huge project. The architects spent months on the design of the stadium and finally released the plans over to the contractors. I called my team together for a meeting to discuss and decide what tools we would need in order to complete the project. As we started listing the items, one of my co-workers announced that we need the Sokkia LP30A Construction Laser Level Planer.

I have never heard of the item and asked him what exactly the Sokkia LP30A Construction Laser Level Planer does and why we would need that specific item. So my colleague started to explain that the Sokkia LP30A was an electronically self leveling machine that can be used indoors or outdoors for a wide range of needs in construction, civil engineering and interior finishing.

What I learned was that the Sokkia LP30A employs a precision pendulum compensator to ensure horizontal accuracy. The compensator is activated by gravity and is unaffected by temperature variations. Accurate measurement is therefore possible in a variety of measuring environments. The air damping system ensures laser beam stability even in locations subject to vibration. The reliability and durability of the compensator system has been proven at jobs sites all over the world.

The Sokkia LP30A is also very easy to work. Simply place the LP30A on a tripod or level arm, and set it approximately level. The built-in compensator then automatically sets the horizontal plane and the laser rotor starts revolving immediately. If the unit is tilted or jarred beyond its self-leveling range, the rotation and laser beam stop automatically and a warning lamp flashes.

My colleague continued to clarify that the Sokkia LP30A is a highly water-resistant unit which is protected from splash water from any direction in compliance with IPX4. If caught in a sudden shower, just wipe off the water. The rotor assembly is fully enclosed in a reinforced glass housing protecting it from water and dust.

The Sokkia LP30A also has a variation of power packages. It can be powered by four D (R20) size batteries or a rechargeable Ni-Cd battery. Both models operate for 90 hours with alkaline batteries and 40 hours with Ni-Cd battery BDC39A. The optional AC adapter EDC79 (plus adapter EDC74) enabled use with AC power (1000V to 240V).

The Sokkia LP30A’s rugged design withstands the stresses of construction sites with reinforced glass to protect from water and dust. The instruments’ accuracy and extended battery life offers a higher standard for leveling tools. As my colleague finished listing all the details of the products, I found that I was impressed. I took a vote among the team that was assembled to see if we should purchase the Sokkia LP30A. The vote turned out to be unanimous.
