Spectra Precision Green Beam Interior Construction Laser Horizontal Vertical

Part of my company’s warehouse floor slopes on an angle so that if you tried to put shelves up, they would tilt dangerously. I decided that I was going to level out that part of the warehouse floor. I gathered all the necessary instruments, equipment and supplies that I would need to do the task and started working. I found out quickly that I did not have the right Leveling Laser to do the job.

I was working with a Red Beam Laser and I couldn’t see the beam. The warehouse was too big and well lit for the red beam to shine brightly. Instead of leveling the floor I was making it worse because of the lack of direction from the machine.

Luckily, I work for a company that supplies construction lasers so I started browsing the inventory. One caught my eye. Spectra had just put out a new Green Bream Horizontal/Vertical Laser on the market called the HV301G. I was curious to see if this laser would be any better. I took it off the shelf and set it on the floor to begin working. I held my breath as I flipped the switch to turn the HV301G on. It was incredible! The HV301G green laser beam was easy to see and the superior visibility in such an extended and bright area helped me finish the job faster and more accurately.

The HV301G also has a laser transmitter that sends a continuous, self-leveled 360-degree laser reference over the entire work area. Various rotation speeds and scanning angles allow you to concentrate the laser beam in your work area for optimum visibility. A 90-degree reference beam is included for a wide variety of layout work and point transfer. A 360 degree remote control allows operation of key functions over the jobsite.

The HV301G is also automatically self-leveling in both horizontal and vertical modes which assure accuracy. A height of instrument alert turns the beam off when the elevation of the laser changes or is disturbed. The laser can also be used in the manual leveling mode for slope applications such as matching existing slopes.

The HV301G is rugged enough for the toughest jobsite. Highly durable construction enables the HV301G laser to survive a drop of up to 3 feet onto concrete. It is an incredible Laser!

Topcon Wireless Total Station

On the way home from work, I stopped by a construction sight to visit a friend, who was supervising a project. I was chatting with him when I noticed out of the corner of my eye one of his construction workers using a Total Station and a Data Collector. The gentleman was recording measurements and all was calm. That is, until he walked a couple of feet to get his water bottle.
Then there was chaos. He tripped over a cable that connected the Total Station and the data collector and down he went. Not only did he hit the floor hard but so did the Data Collector. After a few frightening moments of watching the tripod with the Total station on it wobble, it settled back in its place as if nothing happened.
I took one look at my friend’s face and knew it was time to leave. I slipped him my company’s card before I left and told him to call because I knew something that might interest him. I wanted to introduce to him to the Topcon GTS-239W Total Station which combines long prismless measurements with wireless communication between the Total Station and the Data Collector.
With no cable between the GTS-239W and a Bluetooth-enabled data collector, this total station offers versatility and ease of use for surveying and construction applications. Bluetooth technology enables wireless communications with field computers and eliminates field production delays caused by broken or forgotten cables or accidents like the one that happened on my friend’s construction sight.

Previously impossible measurements of any target within a range of 300 meters can now be easily achieved. This Total Station has one of the longest reflectorless ranges, which is up to 250m. It Measures up to 3000 meters with a prism. The GTS-239W also includes "Pulse" technology which enables the laser to discern between near objects and the distant target.
To meet your specific survey needs, the GTS-239W includes a laser plummet which allows fast and easy setup, a point guide feature which allows for fast alignment in staking tasks, and four levels of angular accuracy which suits any application. The Precise Pulse-Laser installed in the total station eliminates measuring errors caused by the overlapping signals used in phase measuring systems. It accurately measures corners or through objects and is always fast and reliable.
Each Topcon GTS-239W total station has on-board data collection capabilities. Other features include a large easy-to-read LCD display, and an expanded keyboard for increase functionality and it is loaded with standard features including a long life ten hour NiMH battery, handy application programs, and increased distance range. Pipe and Cable locators

Cable and Pipe lasers are essential to have on a construction sight. Health and Safety authorities all over the world advise that before undertaking any kind of excavation, operators should first scan an area with a Cable Avoidance Tool. Even with this advice, site workers are still injured and killed due to inadvertently striking buried cables. SubSurface Instruments makes an incredible Pipe and Cable Locator that can avoid these injuries called the PL-2000 Series. With the PL-2000 Series, operators can locate, trace and mark underground services quickly, precisely and reliably prior to excavation.
The PL-2000 Series Pipe and Cable Locator detects power signals and charges. It can locate power signals radiated by energized cables or it can trace signals originating from distant radio transmitters. These radio signals penetrate the ground and are reradiated by buried metallic cables and pipes. It can detect anything that has a signal or charge such as electrical power cables, cable lines, telephone lines, power lines, water lines, tracer lines and anything that had a metallic conductor.
The PL-2000 Series Cable and Pipe Locator offers a new approach in high power, low frequency locating. With three active frequencies (at a nominal 512 Hz, 8kHz, and 27 kHz), two passive frequencies (at the 50/60 cycle flowing AC current, and Radio in the 14 kHz - 25 kHz), four modes of operation, and both inductive and direct connection capabilities, the PL-2000 is powerful and versatile, but still surprisingly easy to use and cost effective.
The four different operating modes that the lightweight, balanced receiver offers are Peak, Null, Dist, and Sonde. Peak mode is for the most accurate locates and for depth measurement. Null mode is for fast, easy tracking. Dist mode is for even longer distances and Sonde mode is for locating sewer Sondes and measuring their depths. The PL-2000 Series is designed to help avoid damage to underground services during excavation, injuries to on site workers, as well as make the job easier and simpler for the personnel.
